“A New Sheriff In Town” Baby Shower

Posted by on Feb 28, 2013 in Weddings & Events | 0 comments

There’s only one way to welcome a new sheriff in town… with some Texas lovin’! This sweet baby shower was full of design details. Each table featured a white and grey gingham runner with the most darling centerpieces you ever did see. The centerpieces were wrapped in rope and filled with cactus, and flanking each side were painted wood horse shoes displayed on standing stained wood. Sitting on each place setting was a cowboy handkerchief as a napkin, wrapped in a knotted rope for that added touch.  And to top it all off, each guest went home with cute Texas themed cookies. This new sheriff was showered with lots of lovin’! Here is a peek through my nifty iPhone…

Man-ish Cave

Posted by on Feb 21, 2013 in Interior Design | 0 comments

This is to be a space where dudes can come to scream and yell for their favorite sports teams. No, it doesn’t exude the typical “man cave” items like Budweiser signs, and that’s because this room has style! The goal of this room was for it be man friendly but also available to other purposes if needed – like say a load of girls want to watch The Bachelor in there, or you need it for a play room one day. But ultimately, a manly vibe was on the mind.

We decided on more masculine colors for the room, like browns and oranges. I found this incredible diamond patterned fabric in those exact colors and decided I had to incorporate it! But I ended up taking it a step further, per usual. I went for a bold look, using this fabric as wallpaper for a featured wall behind the couch. Yep, you can put fabric on walls like wallpaper with liquid starch, although it’s a big project! Hanging on the wall are a collection of paper and leather wrapped frames and white porcelain animal heads. Opposite that wall is the TV wall, where I incorporated the fabric in frames to carry the look in a more subtle way to that side of the space. The neutral couch with fun pops of pillows were a perfect contract to the somewhat wild wall. It’s both manly and stylish for any gender to enjoy!

Valentine’s Decor Year ‘Round

Posted by on Feb 14, 2013 in DIY Projects, Interior Design | 0 comments

Happy V-day! Ahh, the day of the year where every restaurant is packed, the flowers are three times the normal price, and the expectations are typically high. Well hopefully you’ve already made your plans with your love or your friends and for your sake, I sure hope you’ve got a reservation. Today this “holiday” got me thinking about event and home decor (although every day has me thinking about that!). But I was pondering about all the ways that you can utilize that Valentine’s decor year around! Why make all that effort for just one day?! Here are just a couple ideas for you to create (or buy, if that’s your fancy) for today and the days to come.

A little string art expresses your love and will impress your friends! How cute is it hanging over this settee?!

These L-O-V-E pillows are perfect for today and will still be darling tomorrow! Would look smashing on your couch or bed.

Flowers are a girl’s favorite :) Incorporate flowers every week for a change! They are the perfect accent on a coffee table.

Put up this sweet garland for V-day decor, and use it again tomorrow. Imagine how cute it would be hanging in a kid’s room!

Modern Kitchen

Posted by on Feb 7, 2013 in Interior Design | 1 comment

The kitchen is one of my favorite spaces in a home! Of course it’s where I make four course meals and delightful desserts every single day. #not! While I may not be skilled in the kitchen, it seems to be the place where guests, friends and families congregate in a home the most. So, we wanted this kitchen to be a warm and inviting place where people could gather, while giving it a modern look and great appliances to make all the yummy stuff happen.

With a modern look in mind, we made selections that would reflect ‘cool’ colors and have clean lines. The white shaker cabinets are the perfect way to give the space a modern vibe, since they do take up most of the real estate in there. While they are simple, they have those clean lines and are a really fresh look. We paired the cabinets with pull handle knobs, which exude sleek style. Thin subway tiles make up the backsplash, which is a personal favorite of mine! We added a bit of color through the countertops with a variation of grey and white speckled Caesarstone. The kitchen was outfitted in all stainless steal appliances and even a white sink! And finally, it was all topped off with a few accessories to add more color and personality!

Fiesta Flair Wedding

Posted by on Jan 30, 2013 in Weddings & Events | 0 comments

Modern, colorful, fresh, unique and a touch of fiesta flavor are all words to describe Jennah and Mike’s wedding day! Inspired by many different styles, they wanted an inviting space that reflected their individual look. The challenge was on! To express the Mexican style, we decided to incorporate papel picados into each design element. Some pieces reflected it more literally, and other pieces had a hint of it for some added flair. In place of a traditional guest book, when guests entered the garden they wrote notes to the couple on a papel picado and pinned it to a line of ribbon overhead. As more guests signed and pinned them, it created a canopy of banners resting over the party. Lining the aisle were custom tiles we created out of simple grey floor tiling and papel picados applied on top to add the Mexican touch in a modern way. The chuppah was draped in fabric with ribbon flowing over the front and inside were delicate chandeliers we made from papel picados (yet again!). Inside the reception we lined each table with the custom tiles as runners, to keep the theme tied throughout each moment. The tables featured an array of gorgeous modern centerpieces and candles that incorporated bright pops of color to complete the look!
